The Rubery Village popular annual Christmas Lights Switch On will be back for 2021 with an exciting line up for visitors.
After last year’s cancellation due to the pandemic, Rubery’s switch on event will be back on New Road on Saturday 27th November with music, singing and street theatre entertainment.
There will be live entertainment throughout the afternoon with local singers and street performances from 1pm until 5pm. Street Theatre performances will include a Fairy and Christmas Pudding walkabout, Twistina and Twistifa with their balloons and barrel organ and Steve Kaos showing off his Circus skills.
The popular Primrose Hospice Tree of Lights switch-on and blessing by Reverend Claire Turner and Reverend Hamilton will take place at 4pm.
This will be followed by the countdown and main lights switch on at 4.30pm. There will be no central stage to avoid overcrowding in line with Covid guidance.
Please note that the carpark, in front of the Co-op, will be closed for the day from 6am.
Leisure Portfolio Holder, Cllr Phil Thomas, said: “We are so pleased that we could bring back a more covid secure version of the Rubery Switch On this year to help residents welcome the festive season safely. It will be a lovely, family-friendly event for residents of all ages to enjoy.”
This event has kindly been supported by Rubery Festival.
