A Catshill business has stepped in in a bid to stop potential vandalism at the town’s BirdBox space.

After two spates of vandalism of the panels at Birdbox in a 48 hour period, Karen Talbot, at Modern Electric Tattoo Co had the idea to ‘graffiti’ the panels professionally.

Fred Yorke, who works at the Catshill parlour, is also a street artist and came up with the design in a bid to stop the panels being defaced.

The creative idea reflects the BirdBox and represents the Government and European Welcome Back funding, which has been used in Bromsgrove to help get the District thriving, post pandemic.

The street art, the Welcome Back BirdBox event and promotions to encourage people to shop local are just some projects which have been funded by the cash.

Bromsgrove District Councillor Phil Thomas, whose portfolio covers Leisure, Community Services and Community Safety, said: “BirdBox is meant to be a space for everyone to enjoy but unfortunately it was defaced twice in the space of 48 hours.

“Now, as we move along the Government’s roadmap to recovery, we hope the space really comes into its own and we don’t want this to be ruined by a few thoughtless people.
“Hopefully this street art will encourage people to respect this space instead of costing the Council, and in turn the taxpayer, money to fix it and bring it back to its original glory.”
