School holiday activities and support will be well received by many families across the district this Easter

An inter-department program is being created by Youth Officers in Bromsgrove District Council’s Community Safety Team, Sports Development Team, and the Starting Well Partnership to provide fun activities and support for families over the two-week break. This project is also being supported with funding from Worcestershire Children First and Ready Steady Worcestershire.

The team is organising themed outdoor activities, such as Easter Egg Hunts, as well as providing support through some schools, Pre-Schools, The Basement Project, Library, Home start and Youth Providers for families who would normally receive free school meals.

Over the course of the school holiday, 2000 Easter eggs, which have been provided by Tesco, will be hidden around the district as part of 14* different organised ‘hunts’ in Rubery, Hagley, Catshill, Sidemoor, Blackwell and Lickey End, Charford and Wythall. Families can also take part in a variety of different sports and activities over the course of the holidays.

The Easter Activities have also been supported by the local Bromsgrove Safer Neighbourhood team, Impression Communication, The Round Table, Bromsgrove School and Morrisons PLC

Project Champion, Cllr Helen Jones, said: “Thank you to Tesco and our other partners and sponsors for helping to make these events possible for our communities. Something as simple as an Easter Egg hunt can make a world of difference to the wellbeing of local families. School holidays can be a difficult time for some, especially after the last two years, so thank you to the team for making this a reality. Look out for a hunt near you and ‘hop’ along to see if you and your children can find a gift from the Easter Bunny!”

*Some of the hunts are limited to families who currently access Starting Well Services, others are open to all.
