Closure Date Set for Car Park

Stourbridge Road Car Park will close permanently from September 24 as plans progress for the site's redevelopment.

Residents, visitors and businesses are being encouraged to make use of the range of alternative parking facilities available across the town centre, with a number of car parks located close to key shopping and leisure destinations.

Bromsgrove town centre continues to benefit from a substantial parking offer, with six car parks in walking distance of the High Street including School Drive Car Park and Parkside Car Park, providing capacity for shoppers, workers and visitors.

Portfolio Holder for Economic Development and Leader of Bromsgrove District Council, Cllr Karen May, said: “We recognise that any change to parking arrangements may take some adjustment for visitors and understand that people will have different views on the closure of Stourbridge Road Car Park. However, there is still ample parking available at alternative sites in close proximity of the town centre.

“While this is a significant change, it also marks the beginning of a major investment in this part of the town centre, that will create jobs, attract footfall and support the local economy. This is an important step in helping to secure the long-term vitality and growth of the town.”

Signage will be installed to direct motorists to nearby car parks, and information on parking locations can be found on the council's website.
