Make Your Mark - Become a Creative Producer

Young people aged 16 - 24 in Bromsgrove, and Redditch, are being invited to shape the future of arts and culture in their communities.

As part of the exciting Sharing Stories, Shaping Futures programme, ReNEW are recruiting aspiring Creative Producers to work alongside arts organisations (Trigger – Performing Arts, Overhear – Digital Arts, INSTAR – Visual Arts), influence creative projects, and help ensure that young people’s voices are heard and represented in cultural activities across the area.

The programme offers participants the chance to connect with like-minded people, gain valuable experience, develop leadership and decision-making skills, and work directly with experienced arts professional in a friendly, supportive environment.

One of our Creative Producers, Lauren, said: “I chose to become a creative producer because I think it will be a fantastic opportunity to learn from professionals in the performing arts and gain experience behind the scenes, as I hope to become a theatre director and writer in the future. I think my favourite aspect of this project is that it's by and for the people of Bromsgrove and Redditch; it shows that actually I don't need to live in Birmingham or London in order to get creative opportunities.”

They will have opportunities to shape arts activities that celebrate local areas, engage with communities and their stories, helping to strengthen pride of place, and reflect the interest and experiences of young people in the area.

Creative Producers will gain first-hand insight into how creative projects are developed and delivered, building confidence and skills that can support future education, employment, and volunteering opportunities.

Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, Leisure and Culture, Cllr. Shirley Webb, said: “we want to empower young people to share their ideas, build connections and help shape the future of creative activity in their area. Through the support of arts professionals and organisations, participants have the fantastic opportunity to gain new experiences, develop their confidence, and make a real difference to cultural life across Bromsgrove.”

The programme is designed to be welcoming, inclusive, and accessible – providing a space safe for everyone to have their voices heard, connect with other young people, and develop their cultural interests.
