Next Stop: Christmas!

A festive afternoon of live entertainment, family attractions and a spectacular Christmas Lights Switch On is set to draw visitors into Bromsgrove Town Centre next month.

On Saturday 21 November, Bromsgrove's annual Christmas Lights Switch On will return with an exciting programme of seasonal entertainment, including a special appearance from Father Christmas aboard his big yellow bus, live music, festive market stalls, roaming performers and a stunning laser and music finale.

Visitors can enjoy activities across the town centre from 3pm to 5.30pm, before the Christmas lights illuminate the High Street and officially mark the start of the festive season.

Chairman of Bromsgrove District Council, Cllr Josh Robinson, will address the crowd ahead of the 5pm countdown.

One of the highlights of this year's event will be the arrival of Father Christmas on his brightly decorated big yellow bus.

Families will have the chance to meet Father Christmas, take festive photographs and soak up the Christmas atmosphere before he sets off for his busiest time of year.

Throughout the afternoon, visitors will be treated to performances from the Stourport-on-Severn Brass Band, acclaimed vocal group Crystal Gospel Choir and musical theatre performer Haley Louise, delivering a mix of festive favourites and popular classics.

Adding even more festive energy to the celebrations, illuminated stilt walkers and Christmas-themed street performers will be roaming the town centre, offering interactive entertainment and festive surprises for visitors of all ages.

Portfolio Holder for Health & Wellbeing, Leisure and Culture, Cllr Shirley Webb, said: “Our Christmas Lights Switch-On is one of the most anticipated events in Bromsgrove's calendar and we're delighted to welcome residents and visitors back for another fantastic celebration.

“Whether you're coming along to meet Father Christmas, enjoy the entertainment, browse the Christmas market, or watch the lights switch-on, there will be something for everyone to enjoy. It's a wonderful opportunity for our community to come together and celebrate the start of the festive season while also supporting our local businesses and town centre.”

As daylight fades, attention will turn to the town's Christmas Lights Switch-On. A specially choreographed laser and music show will accompany the countdown, transforming the High Street with colour, light, and festive spectacle before the town's Christmas lights shine for the season ahead.

Visitors can also browse a wide range of seasonal gifts, crafts and treats at the Bromsgrove Christmas Market, organised by The Bromsgrove Society.

The market will open from 9am to 4pm on Friday 20 November and 10am to 6pm on Saturday 21 November, helping residents kick-start their Christmas shopping while supporting local traders.

Following the town centre festivities, the community is invited to attend Primrose Hospice's Lights of Love service outside Asda at 6pm, offering a moment of reflection and remembrance as part of the town's festive celebrations.
