Taking the Ache Out of Arthritis

The next round of free ESCAPE-pain rehabilitation sessions for people living with arthritic joint pain will get underway in Bromsgrove next month.

ESCAPE-pain is a structured group programme that supports those experiencing joint pain through a combination of supervised exercise, practical advice and self-management guidance.

Participants are helped to better understand their condition, learn techniques to manage symptoms more effectively, and follow a tailored exercise programme designed to improve mobility, confidence and overall wellbeing.

Starting on September 7th 2026, the programme details are below, and sessions are completely free:

  • 6 weeks
  • 12 sessions
  • Mondays at 1:30pm
  • Wednesdays at 2:00pm
  • Bromsgrove Sport and Leisure Centre, School Drive, Bromsgrove, B60 1AY

Portfolio Holder for Health & Wellbeing, Leisure and Culture, Cllr Shirley Webb, said: “Joint pain can often stop people from doing the things they enjoy, but programmes like ESCAPE-pain show that the right support, education and exercise can make a real difference.

“We're committed to helping residents stay active, independent and connected to their communities. This programme gives people practical tools to manage their condition and build confidence in a welcoming group environment.

“I would encourage anyone living with arthritic pain in their knee, hip or back to register their interest and find out how ESCAPE-pain could help them.”

Anyone wishing to take part in the sessions should register their interest via the online form on our website (Escape Pain | Bromsgrove.gov.uk) or call 01527 881404.

Thanks go to Bromsgrove Sport & Leisure Centre for their continued support in delivering these sessions.
