Holiday Activity & Food for Bromsgrove - February Half Term 2021

The Starting Well Partnership, Sports Development team and the Community Safety team where successful through the council in putting a partnership bid together which would support half term activities across Bromsgrove and Redditch to support with outside events and food parcels.

Blackwell Court Adventure Centre

25 young people from Bromsgrove attended the activity centre over three days. The young people attended the days in the COVID bubbles which had already been formed from them attending The Bromsgrove Youth and Community Hub. The young people who are currently accessing the centre have several emotional and social challenges and engaging in activities during their days at the centre was really pushing the young people out of their comfort zone.

Xplorer Orienteering in Sanders Park

A Xplorer Orienteering course was established in both Sanders Park and the Arrow Valley Country park in partnership with British Orienteering, to help with increasing activity and creativity levels across during half term. Families could access the parks Xplorer maps on the council’s website and challenged families with young children to find all the markers dotted around the parks.

Community Picnics

We supported residents that were identified through The Hub Bromsgrove, Starting Well Partnership, BDHT, the Basement Project, South Bromsgrove High School and New Starts. The referrals we received supported with the distribution of 246 picnics, prepared by Claveliiscakes Ltd.

A number of our partners also came together to deliver some of the picnics to our families across Bromsgrove and Redditch.  We were also able to provide these families with Pancake mix and Lemon Juice just was donated by Aldi UK and cake mix which was donated by Morrison’s PLC.

The team linked in with Morrison’s to provided 174 with a weekly food package to support young people with Breakfast and Lunch for five days across half term. 83 families within Redditch and 39 families from Bromsgrove benefited.
