It’s that time of year where we start to send out your annual council tax bill…

 

 The average full council tax bill for a Band D household is £2,478.65, a 7.64% increase from last year.

 Your District Council only keeps £265.18 – that’s £5.10 a week.

While we send out the bill and collect all of the money, we only keep 11p of each pound you pay, which helps pay for the services provided by us.

For every pound you pay broken down - (WCC - 71p, PCC - 12p, BDC - 11p, HW F&R 4p, Parish Councils - 2p

We do more than just empty your bins!

And for less than a high street cup of coffee, we provide a wealth of services from parks, play areas, woodlands, street cleaning, housing, planning, licensing - the list goes on.

Where does the rest of your money go?

  • Worcestershire County Council - Provide services for the whole county like adult and children’s social care, road and path maintenance, home to school transport and waste disposal.
  • West Mercia Police and Crime Commissioner - This is to help fight crime and keep communities safe.
  • Hereford and Worcester Fire & Rescue - Your money helps to support the work of this service including tackling fires, dealing with road traffic collisions and responding to major emergencies like flooding.
  • Parish Councils - Provide community specific services. What each council does varies from place to place but services can include managing community assets like village halls, cemetery management and burial space provision.
