Exciting climbing sessions are the latest new activity for disabled people in Bromsgrove District.

Bromsgrove District Council is running the Disability Climbing sessions at the Bromsgrove Sport & Leisure Centre after securing funding from the Short Breaks scheme from Worcestershire County Council.

Cllr Peter Whittaker, Bromsgrove District Council’s portfolio holder for leisure services, said: “We’re delighted to be able to keep on developing and expanding the range of local opportunities for active leisure. The more people we can help to participate, the better, and the accessibility of the facilities at Bromsgrove’s new leisure centre is a real boost to that. It has been very popular and this latest scheme will enable even more people to come and take part.”

Five-week blocks of the climbing sessions will now take place at the centre’s Clip 'n Climb indoor climbing wall every term for the next three years.

Led by qualified instructors, participants can take part in roped climbs with safety harnesses and have a go at the different types of climbs available. Parents, siblings or carers can join in and share the experience as a family.

The first block of sessions starts on Sunday November 18 and runs until December 16, all at 4pm to 5.30pm. Thanks to the funding it’s just £25 for the whole five weeks. Apply to the district council’s sports development team at www.bromsgrove.gov.uk/climb or by calling 01527 881356.
