The Skate Park in Sanders Park will be temporarily closed from September 7th for one week.

This area will be closed off for the first full week in September so that it can be repainted using specialist paint which can be hazardous.

During this time, the Skate Park will be off limits to all residents and visitors at all times of the day. The council will be putting up barriers and taping off areas to reinforce this.

The specialist paint which is being used can be hazardous to health if misused. Our contractors have completed a full risk assessment and will be wearing full PPE whilst completing the work.

Councillor Phil Thomas said: “We hope to reduce the impact of closing the Skate Park by completing this work when the schools are back. It is important that residents respect the fact that when the skate park is shut, we mean shut completely, and not just during working hours. The paint can be hazardous and we don’t want any misuse to lead to injury.

“It is necessary to close the Skate Park for a whole week but the new coat of paint will not only give it makeover but will also make it safer to use in future.”
