Street theatre performers are dusting off their hoops, sewing their costumes and practicing their jokes in anticipation of entertaining residents and visitors in Bromsgrove District.

Later in July, Bromsgrove’s free Street Theatre programme will be back for the first time since 2019, with six, outdoor events in various locations around the district running from 11am until 3pm, alongside stalls, activities, and walkabout acts.

Kicking off the theatrics at Catshill Village Meadow on Thursday 29th July will be The Wonder Woman Street Show and Carlos Airhead.

The following Tuesday (3rd Aug) will see the next event popping up at Charford Rec Ground with family favourites Professor Chandler’s Punch & Judy Show and Bell & Bullock - Cabin Fever.

Bell & Bullock will then be moving to Wythall Park on Wednesday 4th Aug alongside Daft as a Brush.

Thursday 5th Aug is the turn of Hagley Playing Fields with performances from Daft as a Brush and Nat Lunatrick.

After a short break, until Wednesday 11th August, the Black Eagles will be at Rubery St Chad’s Park alongside Angie Mack Hula Hoop Street Show. Both performers will then be heading to Sanders Park for the final event on Thursday 12th August.

Portfolio Holder for Leisure Services, Cllr Phil Thomas, said: “It’s been a long time coming but I’m so glad we’re starting to see community events taking place around the district again. Grab your picnic and some deck chairs and head to one of our beautiful parks to enjoy free street theatre entertainment, displays, children’s activities and more, to keep the whole family happy over the summer holidays.”

All our events are COVID risk assessed, but visitors are asked to follow the hands, face, space guidelines and be respectful of other park users.

Please note, the event programme may be subject to change depending on Government COVID-19 Guidance. Outdoor performances are subject to change/cancellation due to adverse weather conditions.

Visitors are welcome to bring chairs, tables, and picnics.
