The closure of a Bromsgrove group which supports residents with disabilities has kindly donated remaining funds to Bromsgrove District Council’s Shopmobility service.

Bromsgrove Disabled Access Group, which closed earlier this year, donated £1650 to the council-run service which assists visitors with limited mobility and enables them to shop in the town.

The council intends to use this money to upgrade and/or purchase replacement vehicles to add to the fleet.

Portfolio Holder for Health and Well Being, Cllr Shirley Webb, said: “This money will make a huge difference to our Shopmobility service and the residents and visitors they serve. We cannot thank Bromsgrove Disabled Access Group enough for choosing us to receive this kind donation and we promise to continue their work helping disabled residents in Bromsgrove.”

Shopmobility provide free equipment, including manual and battery powered wheelchairs and scooters, for any visitors who have difficulty walking so that they can get around Bromsgrove Town Centre. The service is open six days per week and staff can help customers decide on the right equipment for their needs, how to use it and offer access to specially designated parking spaces for service users.

Anyone who wishes to donate to the Shopmobility service can do so by contacting the team on the telephone number or email address below.
