People with new business ideas are being encouraged to start a market stall, as Bromsgrove marks this year’s Love Your Local Market campaign.

Market staff from Bromsgrove District Council will be decorating Saturday’s (May 27) market to mark the national campaign, which seeks to put local market trading in the spotlight.

Cllr Sue Baxter, whose portfolio includes Economic Development, said: “M&S, Superdry, Poundland – they were all started on a humble market stall by entrepreneurs with an idea.

“Even as society continues to evolve all around us and businesses and high streets move with the times, there’s nothing quite like getting your business in front of people in the bustle of a town centre market. We’re looking forward to a busy year ahead for Bromsgrove Market which plays such an important part in creating a better town centre experience for everyone.

“Whether you want to start a stall or have ideas for a special one-off event market, you can always contact the team to discuss.”

Bromsgrove's historic outdoor market was founded in 1200, although the Tuesday market day is a relative newcomer, having been started in 1317.

It’s open from 9am to 4pm on Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
