A New Name for a New Development

Bromsgrove District Council are launching the chance for residents to have their say on what the new development in the heart of the Town Centre should be called.

The new development on the site of the Former Market Hall will consist of a commercial building, pavilion building, and public realm. The project also includes the re-naturalisation of a portion of Spadesbourne Brook.

A shortlist of five names have been chosen and residents can now vote on their favourite.

  • Nailer’s Yard – Honouring Bromsgrove history as a centre for the manufacturing of nails.
  • Spark Works – Conjuring images of innovation, a place for collaborative minds to come together.
  • Birdbox  - The building will build upon the work of the previous BirdBox to create a space for residents to meet, work, and relax.
  • The George Exchange – Harking back to a time when the George Hotel sat on the land and looking forward to the knowledge and social exchange of the future.
  • Bromsgrove Connection – Highlighting a place for the residents of Bromsgrove, and further afield, to come together and connect socially and professionally.

Anyone is able to vote on their favourite option and leave their thoughts until the 14th of April.

Assistant Director for Regeneration and Property, Rachel Egan, said: “The creation of these new facilities for the people of Bromsgrove will bring a wide range of employment, cultural, and leisure opportunities for the town. Choosing the right name is crucial to ensure these buildings truly serve our residents and reflect the identity of our local community. I’d love to see as many responses as possible from across the town, centres, and even further afield.”

The ‘Pavillion’ building is set to be a multipurpose asset for the town. An open plan ground floor encouraging creative exhibitions, markets, and community use during the day, evenings, and weekends.

The ‘Commercial’ building, having recently had local firm GJS Dillon appointed to manage the marketing and letting of the space, will have purpose-built spaces for food and beverage units, along with premium quality office space for businesses new and established alike.

The buildings will be surrounded by new public realm, making the whole area an enjoyable place for the people of Bromsgrove to meet and spend time during the week, weekends, and evenings.

The project expects to be completed by early 2026 ready for residents and businesses.
