BT invites residents to learn about the future of landlines
BT is inviting residents from Bromsgrove and across Worcestershire to a special drop-in event to learn more about the upcoming changes to the UK’s landline network.
BT will be hosting a Digital Voice Engagement Event on Friday 14th November 2025, from 10am to 1pm, at the Age UK North Worcestershire shop on Bromsgrove high street.
In partnership with Bromsgrove District Council, whose Lifeline Team will also be in attendance, and Age UK North Worcestershire, the event aims to update residents about the nationwide transition to digital phone services and address any worries they may have.
This informal session is designed to help people (particularly those who may be older or more vulnerable) understand what the switch to Digital Voice means for them. While traditional landlines are not disappearing, the technology behind them is evolving, and BT wants to ensure that everyone feels informed, supported, and confident about the change.
No booking is required, just drop in and chat with the BT team, Age UK and Lifeline staff to ask questions, see how Digital Voice works and see what support is available for anyone who needs additional help with the transition.
The event is open to all Worcestershire residents, not just BT or Lifeline customers, as representatives will be able to assist with the majority of general questions.
Jo Hughes from Age UK North Worcs, said: “We’re pleased to host this event in our Bromsgrove shop to help people understand the move to digital phone services. We know that there are a lot of older people within our communities who rely on their landlines for staying connected, and it’s important they feel confident about the changes ahead. This drop in is a great opportunity to ask questions in a friendly, relaxed setting, even if you’ve never visited us before."
Leader of the Council and Portfolio Holder for Partnerships, Cllr Karen May, said: “We understand that change can be daunting, especially when it involves technology, so I am pleased that BT are bringing this event to our community to offer reassurance, answer questions and make sure everyone feels ready for this significant upgrade. I’d encourage anyone concerned about the change for themselves or their relatives to attend and find out more.”
