Chairman’s Comedy Club Coins It In

Bromsgrove District Council’s chairman put on a comedy fundraiser, boosting the coffers of a Bromsgrove charity by hundreds of pounds.

The chosen charity of this year’s chairman, Cllr Sam Evans, is The Basement Project, and a night filled with light-hearted fun proved to be just the ticket.

Organised by Cllr Evans, the night was compered by Max Ponsonby and saw comedians perform on stage for guests, lighting up the room with laughter.

The headline act of the night was Ian Crawford, supported by Damon Conlan and Jonathan Hipkiss.

Chairman of Bromsgrove District Council, Cllr Sam Evans, said: “I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who took part in, and contributed to, the evening. The Basement Project provides vital care and support across Bromsgrove, and I am very proud that they are my chosen charity for my term as Chairman.”

“The total of £695 raised will help towards the continued support of young people experiencing issues or problems in and around our district.”

Guests included local councillors, Cllrs Karen May, Simon Nock, Rob Hunter and Josh Robinson, the Mayor of Redditch and consort, as well as mayors/chairmen from other neighbouring authorities.

CEO of The Basement Project, Caleb Mallard, said: “We are so grateful to be chosen as the Chairman’s charity this year. It is especially meaningful to be recognised as a local charity working in the community.

“The evening was great fun with some top comedy, leaving us laughing out loud! Thanks to all who came and to Cllr Evans for organising.”

The event was held on Friday 27th March at Bromsgrove Golf Centre.
