ESCAPE-Pain this Autumn

A new ESCAPE-Pain programme starts for Bromsgrove residents next week at Bromsgrove Sports and Leisure Centre.

ESCAPE-Pain is a class for those who are living with pain associated with Arthritis and joint pain as symptoms of other conditions. There are specialised courses designed to help those who experience knee, hip, or back pain.

The classes are led by experienced professionals, Bromsgrove District Council are working with the Orthopaedic Research UK to bring these classes to the area. The course aims to help participants understand their condition and develop self-management skills, whilst using a progressive exercise programme to encourage safe and sensible exercise as part of a pain management strategy.

Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, Cllr. Shirley Webb, said: “Specialist classes like these provide vital resources to our residents. Empowering them to better their lives through activity and education. This course being free shows out commitment to enabling the people of Bromsgrove to lead happy and healthy lives.”

The next course will begin on Wednesday 6th of November. The course consists of 12 sessions across a six-week period: Wednesdays at 2pm and Mondays at 1pm. All sessions take place at Bromsgrove Sports and Leisure Centre.

Contracts Manager from Bromsgrove Sports and Leisure Centre, Benjamin Betteridge, said: “We are delighted to work in partnership with Bromsgrove District Council to bring ESCAPE-Pain sessions to the local community.

“This programme is immensely beneficial for those experiencing osteoarthritic pain, providing them with accessible exercises and pain management strategies to improve mental and physical wellbeing.

“At Everyone Active, we’re committed to ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to engage in physical activity, and we hope these new sessions help those with knee and hip pain lead more active lifestyles.”
