New Line-Up For Bromsgrove Cabinet

Bromsgrove District Council has a new-look Cabinet which is set to smoothly steer the authority through a period of ‘change and opportunity’.

Agreed at last week’s full council meeting, a new face in the Cabinet is Cllr Simon Nock who is taking over the portfolio for Finance.

He said: “Bromsgrove is in a financially stable place and that’s with some big-ticket items on our books, not least the Nailers Yard development.

“With the assistance of government funding this is the largest investment in regeneration which this District has seen in decades and one which will provide a solid income stream, a community space in the Pavilion building, as well as creating jobs and adding to the night-time economy.

“It’s an exciting time to be taking over this portfolio and I will work with officers and colleagues in the Chamber to ensure we continue to provide high quality services to our residents that they need, and which make the most positive difference to their lives.”

Deputy Council Leader Sue Baxter has a change in responsibility from Finance to take on Local Government Reorganisation and Climate Change coming under her remit

Cllr Baxter said: “These are two important areas because they will have a huge impact on the future of the District and its residents.”

Another change is Cllr Shirley Webb who has Leisure and Culture added to her portfolio to complement her existing one of Health and Well-Being while handing Strategic Housing over to colleague Cllr Kit Taylor.

She said: “I am really excited about this addition which not only includes our amazing events, like the recent Christmas extravaganza, but also the great active projects we run to ensure our residents are healthy and well.”

• Councillor Karen May – Leader of the Council and Cabinet Member for Strategic Partnerships, Economic Development and Enabling
• Councillor Sue Baxter – Deputy Leader and Cabinet Member for Local Government Reorganisation and Climate Change
• Councillor Simon Nock – Cabinet Member for Finance
• Councillor Kit Taylor – Cabinet Member for Planning, WRS and Strategic Housing
• Councillor Shirley Webb – Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, Leisure and Culture
• Councillor Peter Whittaker – Cabinet Member for Environmental Services and Community Safety
