Rubery Lights Switch On Brings Festive Cheer
Rubery is set to shine later this month as the popular Christmas Lights Switch On returns.
Taking place on Saturday 29th November, from 3pm to 5.30pm at the usual venue on New Road (Rubery, Birmingham B45 9JA), the event promises an afternoon of festive fun for all ages.
Entertainment will include live music from the Snow Sisters and Viva La Diva, alongside carol singers and more. Visitors can enjoy food, beverage, and Christmas stalls, perfect for picking up seasonal treats and gifts.
Leader of Bromsgrove District Council, Cllr Karen May, said: “Join in with an afternoon of music, magic, and merriment as Rubery lights up for Christmas! It is a wonderful tradition that brings our communities together, to bring in the festive season, with something for everyone to enjoy.”
Santa will also be making a special appearance with his sledge, delighting children and families as the countdown to the switch on, and Christmas, begins.
This event is supported by Bromsgrove District Council in partnership with local communities.
Ward member for Rubery South, Cllr Esther Gray, said: “A huge thank you to Tony Maslen from Rubery Festival and everyone in our community who’s working hard to make our switch-on possible. Your efforts help bring festive cheer to Rubery as we kick off the countdown to Christmas.”
Ward member for Rubery North, Cllr Peter McDonald, added: “I am delighted to see this event return to the streets of Rubery. I know our residents look forward to it each year and I hope as many people as possible turn out to enjoy it once again this year.”
