Social Prescribing Market Celebrations

Visitors to Bromsgrove are in for a friendly boost this month as the District Council’s Social Prescribing Team celebrate Social Prescribing Day 2026.

The team will be marking the occasion with a stall on Bromsgrove Market, where they will be joined by several partners including Bromsgrove Sport & Leisure and Act on Energy.

The stall will give residents the chance to meet the team face‑to‑face, ask questions, discover local services, and learn more about how social prescribing can make a difference.

Social prescribing connects people to activities, groups, and support that improve their health and wellbeing. It is non-medical help to address issues and other unmet needs that can’t be solved by doctors or medicine alone.

Although the official day is on March 26th, the stall will be at Bromsgrove Market on March 24th from 9am-4pm, for a full day of chatting, signposting, and spreading the word about the support available locally.

Cabinet Member for Health and Wellbeing, Cllr Shirley Webb, said: “Our Social Prescribing team does fantastic work all year round, quietly helping residents find the support, activities, and connections that really make a difference to their wellbeing.

“This appearance at Bromsgrove Market is a brilliant opportunity for residents to pop down and talk to the team confidentially, to find out more about how the service could benefit them in their individual situation.”

As well as fantastic advice, support, and general good vibes, the team will also be giving away 50 free goody bags for residents to take home.

Bromsgrove & District Primary Care Network Manager, Sarah Tara, said: “Bromsgrove and District Primary Care Network is proud to commission the Social Prescribing service delivered by the Council’s dedicated team. Their professionalism, proactive approach, and commitment to improving the wellbeing of our local population are invaluable to the wider health and care system. We encourage residents to meet with the team and explore the support available to them locally.”

The day aims to shine a light on how social prescribing can help residents improve their wellbeing, whether that’s tackling loneliness, improving fitness, or simply finding a new hobby.

So, if you’re in town on the 24th, swing by the stall, grab a goody bag, and say hello, the team would love to chat!
