Manufacturing SMEs in Bromsgrove are set to benefit from tailored innovation and productivity support after the appointment of WMG (Warwick Manufacturing Group) to deliver the Innovation Lighthouse programme to the area.
WMG, a renowned, multi-disciplinary research and education department at the University of Warwick, will deliver the Innovation Lighthouse programme which aims to drive growth, competitiveness, and resilience in the local manufacturing sector.
The programme is designed to help small and medium-sized manufacturers improve their productivity, and develop new products and processes, guiding them from initial concept through to implementation. Businesses will receive bespoke support tailored to their specific needs, covering all stages of development. In addition, match-funded grants will be available to participants to assist with the delivery of their project.
Dean Baker, Head of Business Development at WMG said “WMG is delighted to have been chosen by Bromsgrove District and Redditch Borough Councils to deliver the Innovation and Productivity Business Support Programme.

“This targeted initiative will help businesses become ‘Innovation Lighthouses’; shining examples of manufacturing excellence, whose success will inspire and guide others across the sector and the wider region.
“The programme will provide best-in-class support for SMEs in Bromsgrove and Redditch, combining WMG’s deep manufacturing expertise, world-class facilities, academic and research excellence, and agile, impactful delivery.”
The Innovation Lighthouse programme has received £100,000 for Bromsgrove and £100,000 for Redditch businesses from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund and is available to businesses in both areas.
