As the days lengthen and the sun returns, we’re delighted to bring you another update of creative news and brilliant online content to welcome in the Spring. First up, artist extraordinaire Keith Ashford shows you how to make your very own floral Card Mechanism for Spring. Follow the steps in his video tutorial and please share the results with us.
Following on from Keith’s video, we recently got some very good news about a creative writing project we’re supporting in Bromsgrove and Redditch. Full details will follow soon, but for now if you’re someone living locally who identifies as LGBTQ+ and/or has lived experience of mental health issues – and would be interested in joining a supportive online poetry writing group, please get in touch with Arts Development Officer Huw at ‘firstname.lastname@example.org’.
In other exciting news, Limina Immersive are offering digital presence boosting support free to cultural organisations with less than 50 employees in the Greater Birmingham and Solihull region (including Bromsgrove and Redditch) who have been negatively affected by Covid-19. Slots are available throughout March, April and May 2021 and you can advance book right away until 16 April at the following link.
As the weather grows kinder we’re also working with Severn Arts and other Council teams across Worcestershire to create a new online ‘Open Spaces’ directory. If you know of any sites such as fields, gardens or any other outdoor event spaces which could be included in the directory please tell us! Email email@example.com. Entry into the directory is free.
Each year, 27 March sees people in all corners of the globe mark World Theatre Day. With a return to live performances still some way away but now, just about, in sight, it seems appropriate to take a moment to celebrate the Palace Theatre in Redditch – alongside all the other performing arts venues in many different countries which have made and continue to make such a big difference to their audiences, in-person and virtual.
Finally, running until 7 May 2021, the Great Big Art Exhibition invites everyone to make an artwork and display it their window for all to see. With free packs available online to get people started, it aims to be the largest exhibition ever staged. If this motivates you to put something wonderful and colourful up in your window we’d love to see a picture!
