What is Illegal Tree Felling?
Cutting down or damaging trees without the proper permissions, especially those protected by Tree Preservation Orders (TPOs), in conservation areas, or on public land.
Legal Consequences
- Fines of up to £20,000 (or unlimited in Crown Court)
- Prosecution under the Town and Country Planning Act or Forestry Act
- Criminal record for offenders

- Replanting Orders: You may be legally required to restore the site
- Stop Notices: Immediate halts to ongoing work
- Confiscation of Profits: Under the Proceeds of Crime Act
