Site Assessment and Site Selection Methodology

In order to identify sufficient land for development, the Council must consider a large variety of sites from which to determine the most appropriate to allocate for development. It is imperative that all sites are rigorously scrutinised in a consistent and objective manner to ensure the most suitable, sustainable and deliverable sites are taken forward through the plan-making process to allocation.

The documents on this page set out the approach adopted by the Council for site assessment and subsequent site selection for allocation. The results presented in each of the settlement based appendices should all be read in conjunction with the overall methodology document for further explanation.

The Council has also produced a background paper explaining the approach to demonstrating exceptional circumstances for the release of Green Belt land in the Bromsgrove District Local Plan.

Constraints maps have been produced and shown at the Parish level to provide a visual aid of constraints considered in the Site Assessment and Site Selection Methodology document.
